Christmas + Teatime are synonymous — there’s a pull in each of us to slow down, linger with others, and create lasting memories during the holiday season. A cozy Gingerbread Teatime easily fills these wishes, and it’s not too late to create your own.
The Setting
I love to personalize the back of each guest’s chair. I picked these mini red stockings and Gingerbread ladies from Target here. Tied off with a ribbon, I added the mini brass bells from Hobby Lobby. Literally, if you want to zhuzh something, add a bow!
At the table, the theme carries with gingerbread ornaments at each place setting. Added to the ornament ribbon are gift tags I had from last year. I wrote each guest’s name on the tag as a place card, both functional and festive! As napkin rings, these mini gingerbread people come with twine so you can easily tie them in the back. Add fresh greenery from the yard to finish the look. Adding a little greenery beneath the rattan placemats also “grounds” each setting and carries the theme with the mini green vase arrangements.
Remember the adage, add a bow to it…here it is again. I love pretty ribbon bows on teacup handles. I have a collection of Friendly Village by Johnson & Sons cups/saucers I used at each place setting. Sometimes we think everything has to match perfectly at the table but that’s not necessarily true. The pattern colors on the teacup could work well with pink, red or burgundy. The sweet cookie mug toppers are another detail that creates visual interest and carries the theme.
Menu
Finally, the gingerbread cookies! I chose to keep things easy and simple on myself by purchasing a gingerbread box mix and using a cookie cutter for my cookies. Serve with Harney & Son’s Holiday Tea or hot cocoa for those who aren’t tea drinkers.
Most importantly, linger over your pretty tea table and make Christmas memories with the people you love! That’s the most important ingredient to the Coziest Gingerbread Teatime!
